The Mercantile Hotel celebrates ‘suite’ grand reopening in New Orleans

The unique, all-suites boutique Hotel has added new pops of color and updated touch points throughout the rooms while maintaining its historic charm.

GULF BREEZE, FLA. – Innisfree Hotels, a hotel management, development and marketing company, has put the finishing touches on their renovation of The Mercantile Hotel in New Orleans' Arts/Warehouse District. The renovations transformed the lobby, adding a spacious craft cocktail bar, rotating art gallery, inviting social area for networking and relaxing, updated business center and a gift shop. Additionally, the unique, all-suites boutique Hotel has added new pops of color and updated touch points throughout the rooms while maintaining its historic charm.

"When we bought The Mercantile Hotel, we quickly realized we had something special," says Ted Ent, CEO and President of Innisfree Hotels. "The building itself, formerly the site of The Henderson Sugar Refinery, is a very historic structure. After our full renovation, we are the only all-suites boutique hotel in the market."

Ent believes these new changes to the hotel will entice visitors of all types.

"We designed and renovated the hotel to attract a wide array of customers," he says. "Our proximity to the convention center makes it an ideal choice for people who are looking for an authentic, unique experience in New Orleans during both business and leisure travel."

Juxtaposed against the historic brick facade at The Mercantile Hotel is a taste of the latest in hospitality technology. The appropriately named 'Suga' is an AI butler that is capable of delivering refreshments, snacks and even towels directly to the guests' rooms, an amenity that is not offered anywhere else in the New Orleans area. Each suite has also been outfitted with Angie Hospitality, a voice activated in-room assistant.

"Angie not only serves as a 24-hour extension of our staff but  also automates many manual tasks, freeing time to focus on our most valuable guest interactions," says Valarie Coston, General Manager at The Mercantile Hotel. "For such a robust and advanced technology upgrade, we were also pleasantly surprised by Angie's simple 'plug and play' installation, allowing us to immediately enhance our guest services, improve response times and maximize efficiency."

The Mercantile Hotel features 90 suites with the following amenities:

  • Suites with plenty of room to stretch out
  • Luxury bedding and robes for lazy mornings
  • Street-side, craft cocktail lobby bar with locally inspired fare
  • Free continental breakfast featuring local pastries and coffee
  • Luna Fine Art Gallery featuring a rotation of local artists

  • Suga, a state-of-the-art AI robot butler
  • Record players with local jazz records
