The Sheraton Redding at the Sundial Bridge celebrates grand opening

Newly built 130 room hotel anchors Turtle Bay Exploration Park.

REDDING, CA – On January 18, 2018, the Sheraton Redding Hotel at the Sundial Bridge opened its welcoming doors. Located at 820 Sundial Bridge Drive in Redding California, the 130-room hotel boasts a one-of-a-kind location. The hotel is nestled within the grounds of the 300-acre Turtle Bay Exploration Park and stands next to the Sundial Bridge, one of the world’s largest working sundials and an icon in the area.

The Sheraton Redding’s unique setting is unlike any other in Northern California. The hotel offers leisure guests a natural playground perfect for families and outdoor adventurers. The property features 80,000 square feet of beautiful indoor/outdoor function space on the grounds of Turtle Bay Exploration Park ideal for hosting business meetings, corporate retreats and special events.

This exceptional LEED-certified property offers inviting accommodations, smart connectivity, resort-style comfort, thoughtful amenities, well planned meeting and event spaces and unparalleled access to the Shasta Cascaderegion’s many awe-inspiring sites and outdoor activities.

“The idea for the Sheraton Redding at the Sundial Bridge was born of necessity. We needed to find a way for the park to become more self-sufficient from a funding standpoint,” said Mike Warren, President and CEO of Turtle Bay Exploration Park. “The addition of the hotel is a real success story. All hotel profits benefit Turtle Bay Exploration Park and its programs.The park is a tremendous asset to the local community. Many individuals and organizations came together to help bring the hotel to fruition. The hotel stands as a testament to the strength and commitment of our community.”

The 20-million-dollar construction project took two years to complete following several years of planning. The property is owned by SSR (Sheraton Sundial Redding) a corporation that was started by the Turtle Bay Exploration Park, specifically to support the hotel project. SSR worked with local businesses whenever possible, hiring Redding based contractors, architects and crews. The opening of the Sheraton Redding brings 80+ new jobs to the area. SSR contracts AZUL Hospitality Group to manage the property.

Inspired Design
The Mid Century Modern building was designed by Trilogy Architecture in Redding. Construction of the hotel was done by Gifford Construction also based in Redding, California. The hotel interior was the vision of Matthew Ellis of Blue Motif Architecture in San Diego. The sleek and comfortable design echoes the natural beauty of the adjacent Turtle Bay Exploration Park. The lobby area features stunning pieces created by California artists accented by natural wood, rich textures and subtle metallic elements.

Welcoming Accomodations & Amenities
The contemporary, stylish rooms emphasize comfort and convenience. The hotel offers six beautifully appointed suites including an 1100 square foot Presidential Suite. Each of the 130 guest rooms, boast floor-to-ceiling windows that allow views of the Turtle Bay Park, Shasta Bally Mountain Range and the property’s lush grounds.

Travelers will rest well in a Sheraton Sleep Experience bed and refresh in a luxurious walk-in shower or bathtub. All rooms feature complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access, an in-room coffeemaker and a flat screen television. Corporate travelers will appreciate a host of business-friendly amenities and functional in-room workspace. Sheraton Club Lounge access includes additional indoor and outdoor space to relax and unwind and a variety of food and beverages for guests to enjoy throughout the day.The hotel features a 1200-square foot Sheraton Fitness center adjacent to the large heated outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi. The Sheraton Redding also offers creative family programs and pet friendly services.

Meeting & Event Space
State-of-the-art, LEED-certified venues include the 4000 square-foot ballroom, which can be divided into smaller breakout rooms while the versatile outdoor space can be utilized for receptions, exhibits, special events and weddings. The Sheraton Redding’s experienced team of specialists and planners can help with every aspect of event management including catering and group accommodations.

Dining Delights
Mosaic Restaurant, named for the magnificent tiles under the nearby Sundial Bridge, offers Italian inspired cuisine with a California wine country twist. Executive Chef Joshua Boswell and his culinary team create artisan wood fired pizzas, shareable appetizers, hearty salads and pastas using local, farm fresh ingredients. The warm, inviting setting provides a social environment, approachable and delicious cuisine, and a menu that has something for everyone to enjoy. Taking full advantage of the breathtaking surroundings, Mosaic extends to the great outdoors with two different patios – heated and cooled for year-round enjoyment, both with fantastic views. The welcoming, vibrant bar is a great place to relax and enjoy craft beers, inventive cocktails and carefully curated local wines. Mosaic restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
