The Statler Hotel & Residences retains Berk Communications as agency of record

As AOR, Berk will be responsible for initiatives surrounding the hotel's relaunch, including all media relations, social media strategy and general PR support for the hotel, entertainment programming and a yet-to-be unveiled food & beverage concept.

NEW YORK – Berk Communications and Marketing Group, the luxury lifestyle, travel, entertainment and sports division of MWWPR, announced that it has been retained by The Statler Hotel & Residences as public relations agency of the record. The hotel is currently undergoing a $175M redevelopment project.

As AOR, Berk will be responsible for initiatives surrounding the hotel’s relaunch, including all media relations, social media strategy and general PR support for the hotel, entertainment programming and a yet-to-be unveiled food & beverage concept. With extensive experience partnering with hotels, restaurants and entertainment companies, Berk will elevate awareness of The Statler’s brand with key audiences and influencers.

“We expect Berk’s well-rounded approach to PR across hospitality, lifestyle and celebrity verticals will drive the successful relaunch of the iconic Statler Hotel and music venue in downtown Dallas,” said Frank Zaccanelli, Managing Partner of The Statler. “With its unique history and charisma, the property will play a big role in the revitalization of downtown.”

Opened in 1956, the 19-story Dallas landmark features an adjacent 14,500 square foot music venue that has hosted Elvis Presley, The Jackson 5, Frank Sinatra and Tina Turner. It closed in 2001 and is scheduled to reopen in November 2016 with 161 hotel rooms and suites along with 225 apartments, state-of-the-art entertainment venue Statler Hall, a buzz-worthy restaurant and rooftop pool and lounge. The Statler is working with United Culinary Advisors, the esteemed hospitality operational partner led by Parnell Delcham that helped to achieve successful launch programs with renowned brands such as The Delano in Miami Beach and Asia de Cuba.

“We are proud to handle the communications effort to reintroduce such an important Dallas icon to the marketplace,” said Ron Berkowitz, Founder, President and CEO of Berk. “Between Statler Hall’s entertainment programming, scene-changing restaurant and cutting edge bars at the hotel, Dallas residents and visitors alike will have a new adult playground to enjoy downtown.”

The account will be led by Alexandra Spang, Berk’s Vice President of Travel and Tourism.
