Tourism Organization ready to upgrade lodging

A work committee of specialists, which includes executives from the government service ELOT (for quality and safety standards), and the Hellenic Tourism Organization (EOT<.>), was formed recently. Their mission: To come up with any additional proposals for minimum requirements that each auxiliary lodging unit (rented rooms and apartments) must adhere to in order to acquire a Key quality category.
The tourism organization has already completed the basic plan in an effort to upgrade the lodgings available in this sector. The work group must return with any proposed changes by July 10, at which time the committee will give its final approval.
Once approved, the proposal will be turned over to the group specialists who will figure out the best way to change over the present system to the new Key system.
According to the secretary general of EOT, Evgenios Yiannakopoulos, the complete package will be finished and handed over to Development Minister Venizelos for final approval by the end of August.
A similar program and deadline applies to the new star system for hotels.
