Vacation.com honored with four Magellan Awards

Vacation.com, North America’s leading travel services marketing organization, has been honored with four 2011 Magellan Awards from Travel Weekly for several of its key programs. Last year, Vacation.com earned two Magellan Awards.

Vacation.com received a Gold Magellan award for its premium hotel program, Hotel Elite, and a silver honor each for its new food-and-wine themed cruise program, Culinary Collection; its upscale destination-focused consumer magazine, Destination Vacation; and its three-time Magellan Award-winning Engagement consumer marketing program.

“These awards reinforce what our members have been saying for years: that Vacation.com proudly offers some of the industry’s leading, highest-quality programs,” said Vacation.com President John Lovell. “I find strength in the fact that we won for a wide variety of programs, which underscores just how much effort and passion our teams puts into everything we offer.”

The Magellan Awards included entries from top travel organizations and professionals worldwide to recognize the best in design, marketing, services and more. Both Hotel Elite and Culinary Collection won in the Web Marketing/Advertising categories, while Engagement and Destination Vacation claimed their honors in the Direct Mail category.

Travel Leaders Group, the company that owns Vacation.com, collectively earned 15 total Magellan Awards, six of them gold.

“As Travel Leaders Group continues to be recognized for all the industry-leading programs and services we offer to the travel agency community, I can’t thank our employees enough for all of their contributions in making us the undisputed leader in travel. They are the true heroes behind each of the awards,” said Travel Leaders Group CEO Barry Liben.

The awards were judged by a panel of travel professionals, including Bob Dickinson, former President and CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines; Peter Greenberg, Travel Editor of The Early Show; Patricia Schultz, Author of 1,000 Places to See Before You Die; travel blogger Johnny Jet; Rudy Maxa, PBS Host of Rudy Maxa’s World; and Lalia Rach, Professor and Founding Dean of NYU Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management.
