Vietnam’s first MGallery Hotel

Accor announces the arrival of the MGallery label to Vietnam, with the launching of the La Veranda Resort, as the newest member of the MGallery Collection of hotels. The hotel (currently known as Grand Mercure La Veranda Resort and Spa) will commence using the MGallery label from September 1, 2009.

MGallery is a collection of highly distinctive, upscale hotels that have exceptional personality through one or more of four principal elements: Vision, Design, History or Location. La Veranda Resort has been selected to join MGallery thanks to its remarkable location. Today there are 27 MGallery hotels in 19 countries across 5 continents.

The MGallery collection of hotels allows Accor to meet the expectations of discriminating clients who select a hotel as an integral part of their travel experience, or who wish to enjoy a setting that has a history, an identity or a soul.

Patrick Basset, Accor Vice President Vietnam, Philippines, South Korea and Japan commented, “MGallery is a label that has been attached to special collection of hotels world wide.  These selected hotels are expressive, interesting and attract travelers that place the hotel stay at the centre of their travels.  La Veranda Phu Quoc is no exception, offering a unique experience in a memorable setting.  The hotel has just completed and extensive brand enhancement process, which has involved the development of new services and rituals and the deployment of a new identity. La Veranda Resort will be a worthy addition to the MGallery collection of hotels.”

Accor has developed the MGallery label for hotels which provide a dependable upscale offer which combines distinctive services and rituals with hotels that have a marked personality, ensuring original experiences for guests.

La Veranda Resort, the first member of the MGallery Collection in Vietnam, is elegantly situated on the white sandy Duong Dong Beach on Phu Quoc Island, the largest island in Vietnam.  This stunning property is integrated as a conduit between tropical lush green jungle and the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Thailand.

Guests will quickly gain a sense of the La Veranda Resort which is styled reminiscent of a French Colonial seaside mansion featuring dark wood, mosaic tiles, exposed feature brick work, unhurried ceiling fans, double doors with high ceilings creating a distinctive style with comfort and indulgence.  Vietnamese touches are evident throughout the 43 guest rooms and villas with the carefully selected decorative items that adorn the corridors and period furniture.  The hotel is a visit to the days when Vietnam was known as Indochine.

Pepper Tree, the hotels restaurant, offers creative and mouth-watering dishes including ‘Tushi’, which is a harmonious and a tempting combination of Spanish Tapas and Japanese Sushi using only the freshest of local ingredients.

Well-being and rejuvenation treatments at La Veranda Resort are second to none, in the hotel’s day spa.  The spa is spacious, airy and calming with a range of products that use 100% natural and carefully blended ingredients to soothe the mind, relax the body and stimulate the senses.  A wide range of treatments are conducted by a team of professionals. Tai Chi or Chi Qong exercises are available options for guests, by the hotel swimming pool or on the hotels private sandy beach.

Phu Quoc Island is a peaceful paradise in the Gulf of Thailand.  It is accessible by a 50 minute flight from Ho Chi Minh City.  In addition to the gorgeous tropical beaches and ocean, a majority of the island is dedicated to national park, home to over 900 plant species, and protected marine environment.  Phu Quoc is a destination with various activities and attractions and perfect for those with an adventurous spirit or those seeking isolation.

Nicolas Josi, General Manager of La Veranda Resort, said “We are delighted that La Veranda Resort has been selected to join the MGallery Collection and being the first in Vietnam makes it truly special.  The property, the destination and the location of the hotel wedged between so much natural beauty, has always made a stay at the resort special, the addition of the MGallery label to the hotel further ensures a quality and distinctive experience at La Veranda.”
