Events Industry Council recognises new Certified Meeting Professionals (CMPs)

Announcing the August 2019 class of new CMP designees.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Events Industry Council recently announced 216 individuals from seven countries passed the latest Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) examination. This distinguished credential, recognised as the premier certification in the events industry, demonstrates an individual's comprehensive knowledge of meeting management as well as a commitment to the profession.

The Events Industry Council congratulates those that recently passed the CMP examination, and we welcome them into the elite group of event professionals that comprise our diverse community of Certified Meeting Professionals,” shared Events Industry Council CEO Amy Calvert. “As the preeminent certification for meeting professionals across the globe, these individuals have demonstrated their commitment to personal and professional development, and we commend them on this monumental accomplishment.”

Event professionals with the CMP designation are proven to receive increased compensation(1) compared to others in the events industry. The foremost certification available for meeting and event professionals, the CMP designation recognises those who have demonstrated their proficiency through a combination of education, experience and examination. More than 22,000 individuals in 62 countries and territories have earned the CMP designation since its inception in 1985. CMPs are considered the leading experts in the global events industry.

The CMP certification continues to be one of the most well-known certifications in the events industry,” shared Events Industry Council CMP Governance Commission Chair Aleka Garcia, CMP-HC. "Earning the CMP, which is recognised as a badge of excellence in the events industry, is an accomplishment these individuals will not soon forget."

In addition to professional recognition, the CMP brings myriad benefits. Such benefits include access to monthly content delivered exclusively to CMPs on industry trends, proven practices and more, connections within the CMP community, including global connections through a closed community, and attendance at CMP Conclave. CMP Conclave is Events Industry Council’s CMP exclusive event, offering an abundance of peer-to-peer networking and educational opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity for CMPs and offers tailored content relevant to this prestigious group of individuals in the areas of sustainability, corporate social responsibility and leadership. CMP Conclave 2019 will take place this November in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA, offering a suite of opportunities to rejuvenate while taking advantage of activities to further professional development.

The Events Industry Council will continue to drive and advance the education, certification and professionalism of the industry. In an effort to increase both the quality and quantity of education available to both CMPs and non-certified event professionals, Events Industry Council will soon launch its new online learning center, reinforcing its commitment to making quality educational opportunities available to event professionals year round.
