Speaking after her appointment, Kay said: “I love working in both Higher Education and the hospitality industry, and I am passionate about the people within our industry. I am excited to be appointed vice chair, and hope my extensive experience in leadership, change management and creating a quality-driven culture will help to deliver the vision of the association and be of great benefit to our members.”

As chief executive of Imago, a subsidiary of Loughborough University, Kay has responsibility for Burleigh Court, a four-star, 225-bedroom, conference centre and hotel; three-star, 94-bedroom The Link Hotel; Holywell Park, a non-residential conference centre; and Loughborough University’s event management service and conferencing on campus. As director of campus services, Kay has responsibility for circa 6,000 student bedrooms, catering and environments and sustainability on campus.

Kay is also a board director for Venues of Excellence and a previous director of the International Association of Conference Centres (IACC).

Mark Chambers, chairman of the mia said: “Kay has fantastic experience in the meetings industry, having established and positioned Imago as one of the leading hospitality brands in the academic sector. Kay will add real strategic value to the mia executive board over the coming year, and I am delighted to welcome her to the team.”
