Kimpton Taconic Hotel welcomes new General Manager Nicholas Squire

Mr. Squire’s appointment was shared by Joe Capalbo, CHA, Regional Director of Operations, Northeast for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants who said Nick has “lived, breathed and worked in the hospitality industry for his entire life.”

MANCHESTER, VERMONT – Kimpton Taconic Hotel, located in scenic and picturesque Manchester Village in Vermont and overlooking the Taconic mountain range, announce that Nicholas [Nick] Squire has been named General Manager of the award-winning boutique hotel. Architecturally inspired by the grand New England inns and resorts of days past, Kimpton Taconic was named one of the best hotels for 2023 by US News & World Report and the #3 hotel in the Northeast according to Conde Nast Traveler’s 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards.

Mr. Squire’s appointment was shared by Joe Capalbo, CHA, Regional Director of Operations, Northeast for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants who said Nick has “lived, breathed and worked in the hospitality industry for his entire life. Though originally from England, he has extensive experience throughout New England, especially here in Vermont. His experience and background while global are rooted in authentic New England hospitality, the kind of service that embraces you with warmth and genuine friendliness.”

Mr. Squire, a leader in the hospitality industry for more than 20 years, brings a solid and diverse depth of experience to this general manager role in Manchester, Vermont which has him returning to the state after serving as General Manager of Mill Falls at the Lake, a resort comprising of four inns with 171 guest rooms, a marketplace and restaurants in the lakes region of New Hampshire. Prior to that, he served as General Manager for four years of the Four Columns Inn in Newfane, Vermont and Lodging Director of Hermitage Club in West Dover, Vermont for three years where he was responsible for running the Clubs’ six lodging properties, totaling 96 guest rooms.

Mr. Squire has also worked with several prestigious Relais & Chateaux properties in the Northeast including Vermont’s Windham Hill Inn and the Five-Star, Five-Diamond White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine. He began his hospitality career at the Michelin-starred Gidleigh Park hotel in Devon, UK.

Mr. Squire earned his BS Honors Degree in Hospitality Management at the University of Plymouth, Devon, UK.

In his spare time, Squire indulges his passion for travel and fine dining and also enjoys playing golf in the summer, skiing during the winter and watching English soccer.
