ASPEN, CO – W Aspen, the year-round destination for entertainment and adventure, announce the appointment of Martin Magdeburg as the property’s General Manager. With over 20 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry, Martin will oversee operations for all facets of the hotel, including the Rooftop, Aspen’s only year-round rooftop bar and après destination, and 39 Degrees, W Aspen’s signature restaurant.

Beginning his hospitality journey at a young age, Martin assumed an apprenticeship in his hometown of Berlin at The Ritz-Carlton Schlosshotel. His pursuit of excellence led him to a life of adventure moving across the globe with stops at Hôtel Plaza Athenée in New York, l’Ermitage in Beverly Hills and The Setai Miami Beach.
He supported the opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh in Saudi Arabia in 2011 and later to the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore. From there, Martin joined the luxury lifestyle brand W Hotels and led the Culinary and Food & Beverage operations at W Singapore on Sentosa Island until 2017.
Through his global mindset and innovative approach to luxury restaurant and bars, Martin assumed the position of Global Food & Beverage Leader for W Hotels at the end of 2017 in New York City. He supported many of the global properties in various stages, from development to openings, renovations to concepts – while being part of the larger team effort to innovate and refresh W Hotels.
From here, Martin went on to become Hotel Manager of W Shanghai in 2021, overseeing all property operations. Following his time in Shanghai, he transitioned to the role of Director of Operations at The Jaffa, A Luxury Collection Hotel in Tel Aviv, where his hands-on-approach and innovative strategies led to the hotel’s success.
A citizen of the world, off the clock, Martin enjoys spending time in nature – unplugging from it all. His hiking and camping adventures have taken him all over the world from the plains to the jungles and mountains of Tibet, Borneo, and Sri Lanka.
