1 in 5 young Americans plan to travel next month

Over half of Americans are waiting on the government to give the “all clear” before they feel comfortable traveling again. More than 1 in 4 would feel comfortable as long as there are no new cases in the destination they’re traveling to.

Young Americans on spring break showing a lack of concern about COVID-19. What is the overall consensus on the current state of travel? In this new research, Upgraded Points surveyed 1,250 travelers. Here’s what they found:

A study by Upgraded Points, LLC showed that

  • 1 in 5 Americans don’t plan to travel until 2021; however, more than 1 in 10 people still plan to travel next month
  • 1 in 5 young Americans (ages 18-25) plan to travel next month
  • More than 40% of Americans are concerned about catching COVID-19 while traveling. 96% of Americans over the age of 55 have concerns about traveling right now 
  • Over half of Americans are waiting on the government to give the “all clear” before they feel comfortable traveling again. More than 1 in 4 would feel comfortable as long as there are no new cases in the destination they’re traveling to.

This research shows that COVID-19 is going to be a lasting concern for the majority of travelers in the US for the remainder of 2020.
