Design-led European lifestyle hotel brand debuts Central Washington D.C. location.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – AC Hotel Washington DC Capitol Hill Navy Yard is set to become the third AC Hotels by Marriott in the nation’s capital on Feb. 3, 2022. Owned and managed by Concord Hospitality Enterprises, Whitman Peterson and Greystar Real Estate Investments, the new hotel offers the brand’s intuitive and timeless European-inspired travel experience to guests perfectly situated between D.C.’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, bustling waterfront Navy Yard, and the attractions of the National Mall.

A convenient retreat, the hotel is set amongst the energy of Capitol Hill and the stadiums and restaurants lining the Southwest Waterfront and Navy Yard neighborhoods. This spectacularly designed full-service property is just blocks from The Wharf, the Smithsonian Museums and memorials that dot the National Mall, Nationals Park, Audi Field, and is easily accessible from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport, and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport via the Metro’s Green line.

Putting thoughtfully curated moments and purposeful design first, the hotel features 11 stories of 225 well-appointed guest rooms with sleek, modern furnishings throughout and AC signatures, including KORRES bath products with contemporary scents. The guest rooms are offered in a variety of configurations such as double queen and king to suit today’s modern traveler, and are styled to maximize a sense of openness with plenty of space to unpack and unwind. Rooms with private balconies and Capitol views are also available. Refrigerators and in-room safes are accessible to all guests in all rooms.

“We are elated to open the newest AC Hotel in Capitol Hill. I am proud to continue onward momentum in the community and bring innovation and European-inspired hospitality to the neighborhood,” said newly appointed General Manager Hisham Ahmed. “With bountiful access to the city’s popular attractions nearby, we are very eager to welcome travelers back to the nation’s capital.”

Additional amenities include the expansive AC Lounge where guests can enjoy a handcrafted cocktail, including the signature AC Gin Tonic and small bites, a 24-hour ultramodern 10,000-square-feet fitness center, and 3,000-square-feet of flexible meeting space with floor-to-ceiling windows and ample space for coworking and professional use. The hotel will also offer complimentary WiFi to all guests.

Atop the hotel is Smoke & Mirrors, a stunning, modern rooftop bar and restaurant designed by Ellis Adams Group. Located on the 11th floor of the property, guests and local tastemakers alike can toast to unparalleled panoramic views of the city and enjoy small plates under the culinary direction of Executive Chef Raymond Melendez.

Soon to be one of the most popular rooftop bars & restaurants in D.C., Smoke & Mirrors can accommodate up to 350 guests, with space for up to 200 indoors and up to 150 outdoors. With direct views of the U.S. Capitol Building and the Capitol Hill neighborhood below, Smoke & Mirrors offers a new and intriguing vantage point of the city from the south.

Hisham Ahmed brings 24 years of experience in hospitality management and operations as General Manager of AC Hotel Washington DC Capitol Hill Navy Yard. Additionally, Concord Hospitality has named Rodrigo Arandia, a seasoned hospitality executive, as the property’s Director of Sales and Marketing. Both Hisham and Rodrigo will ensure that throughout the early stages of opening, AC Capitol Hill’s priority remains the health and well-being of patrons and executing all safety measures that the CDC and local government have implemented.

New Marriott Commitment to Clean protocols have also been put into effect at the AC Hotel Washington DC Capitol Hill Navy Yard in order to provide guests with a safe environment that aligns with expert protocols for working to minimize COVID-19. These protocols redefine the brand’s cleaning and safety standards and will actively evolve to ensure continued focus on the health and safety of guests and associates.
