An in-depth look at the time and social advantages of a weekend break

If you can’t go on an extended holiday, the next best thing is a weekend break, and you can spend the time doing the things you love and bonding with your special people.

Weekend breaks are popular for a reason – and if you haven’t taken that much-needed break for a while, it may be the ideal time to do so. We aren’t robots, after all – we need time to recharge and recover, and there's no other way to do it than to get away for a few days. If you can't go on an extended holiday, the next best thing is a weekend break, and you can spend the time doing the things you love and bonding with your special people. But weekend breaks, aside from being beneficial cost-wise, can also benefit you in terms of time and your social life. What do we mean by this, you say? Here’s an in-depth look at the time and social advantages of a weekend break.

Social advantages
Easier to schedule with travel buddies

Sometimes, impromptu trips are the best – how many times have you planned something with family or friends with everyone just backing out at the end? A weekend break isn't so challenging to plan, and you can even schedule it the week or a few days before the actual trip. Large, medium and even small companies use employee leave planning software for better leave management. A lengthy holiday would entail more – you have to plan more, spend more, and schedule a work leave. But a weekend break is much more feasible for most people and it's easier to arrange it with your travel buddies because it doesn't involve too much planning, preparation, and expense. It’s also easier to find accommodations for a weekend break on short notice – you can look for large houses to rent by the coast or in the countryside, and chances are, you’ll find plenty with great amenities as well.

Another thing about weekend breaks is that it provides you with the perfect opportunity for a road trip – and we all know how fun road trips can be at building memories and strengthening bonds.

Time advantages
You can set clear priorities

If you're on a time limit of just two to three days, you tend to prioritise things you want to do. Having a short timeframe allows you to set clear priorities from day one – and you'd be surprised at how beneficial this can be. Instead of just lounging around doing nothing (which is still recommended, for the most part), you can also organise things to do that are high on your bucket list. You can set your sights on doing activities you love rather than just setting an itinerary that doesn't interest you. If your objective is to relax, you can optimise your relaxing time before going back to your usual routine.

You don’t have to take time off from work
For most of us, work is essential, and we may find it difficult to go on leave because we are afraid that when we get back, there will be too much we need to do. But if you go on a weekend break rather than a long holiday, you don't have to take time off from work. You can schedule your trip on a Friday evening, for example, be back home on Sunday, and be all ready for work on Monday. Those two nights and three days will make a difference, and you don't have to be pressured about the work that awaits you when you go back to the office.
