No matter what you decide to do, Antigua and Barbuda is the perfect place to kindle or rekindle the romance in your relationship.

The island of Antigua is often referred to as the romance capital of the Caribbean. And it's no wonder why! With its stunning beaches, lush landscapes, and laid-back atmosphere, Antigua is the perfect place to escape with your loved one.

We’ve caught up with Ambassador Dario Item, Antigua and Barbuda's Permanent Representative to the UNWTO as he highlights some of the many reasons why Antigua Barbuda is the ultimate destination for a romantic getaway:

1. Its beaches
Antigua boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in all of the Caribbean. From secluded coves to world-famous stretches of sand, there's a beach here to suit every taste.

Whether you are looking for a place to relax and soak up the sun or an amazing setting for a sunset stroll hand-in-hand, you'll find it in Antigua and Barbuda

2. Lovely landscape
In addition to its gorgeous beaches, the country also offers lush green hills and valleys inland. This provides a nice contrast to the sandy shores and makes for some great photo opportunities. It also means there's always something new to explore, whether you want to take a hike or go for a swim in one of the many pristine pools hidden away in the jungle foliage.

3. Relaxed atmosphere
One thing that sets Antigua apart from other Caribbean islands is its relaxed vibe. There are no large resorts or high-rise hotels here. Instead, you'll find small inns, locally owned restaurants, and quaint shops lining the streets of historic downtown St John's - perfect for couples who appreciate authentic charm over international glitz and glamour.

Even the pace of life feels slower here, making it easy to truly unwind and enjoy quality time with your partner without interruption.

4. The romance
Antigua may be known as the romance capital of the Caribbean, but it's also a great place to get married! There are plenty of gorgeous event venues on the island, from private villas to scenic beaches, and the staff at each one is experienced in helping couples create their dream wedding day.

So whether you're planning a small intimate ceremony or a large-scale celebration, Antigua has everything you need to make it happen.

5. The adventure
Just because Antigua is romantic doesn't mean it's all about relaxing on the beach (though there's nothing wrong with that!)

There's also plenty of adventure to be had here, from zip-lining through the rainforest to scuba diving in crystal clear waters. So if you and your partner are looking for a little excitement on your vacation, Antigua has you covered.

The picturesque island of Antigua is often called the “Island of Romance.” With its white-sand beaches, turquoise waters and lush tropical vegetation, it’s not hard to see why.

This little corner of paradise has been a popular destination for couples looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life for centuries. In fact, Antigua is one of the Caribbean’s most popular destinations for honeymoons and romantic getaways.

If you are planning a romantic vacation to the Caribbean's romance capital, here are a few things you can do to make it extra special:

1. Go for a leisurely stroll along Dickenson Bay beach. This stretch of sand is flanked by coral reefs, making it perfect for swimming and snorkelling. It’s also one of the best places on the island to watch the sunset with your partner.

2. Have dinner at one of Antigua’s many seafood restaurants overlooking the water. There’s nothing more romantic than enjoying fresh seafood while watching the waves crash against the shore.

3. Take a day trip to nearby Barbuda where you can relax on secluded pink sand beaches or explore tranquil lagoons teeming with colourful fish species.

4. Visit Shirley Heights lookout point for stunning views of English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour below – don’t forget your camera! The lookout point is also home to a weekly BBQ party which features live music, making it perfect for an evening out with your significant other.

5. Spend some time in Nelson’s Dockyard National Park which was once used as a base by Lord Horatio Nelson himself during his time in the British Navy – today it boasts remnants from this era as well as gorgeous natural scenery including rainforests filled with rare bird species.

6. Shop ‘til you drop in St John’s City Centre where you can find unique local items such as handmade crafts, T-shirts and rum cakes.

7. Take a glass bottom boat tour or go scuba diving together – there are tons of amazing underwater creatures waiting to be discovered just off Antigua’s coast!

Whether you’re looking for adventure or relaxation, Antigua is sure to deliver an unforgettable experience.

8. For movie lovers, head over to Fort James Beach where scenes from Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl were filmed – inside the fort you can explore tunnels used as prop storage during filming.

No matter what you decide to do, Antigua and Barbuda is the perfect place to kindle or rekindle the romance in your relationship. So pack your bags and get ready for a vacation you’ll never forget.
