Qatar Duty Free opens second Harrods signature store at Hamad International Airport (HIA)

Second iconic Knightsbridge store lands at HIA, adding to QDF’s growing portfolio of luxurious brands.

DOHA, QATAR – Qatar Duty Free (QDF), known for providing a luxurious travel shopping experience, announced the opening of its second Harrods signature store at Hamad International Airport (HIA). This expansion will bring travellers an enhanced product range in a luxurious new shopping environment fitting of two iconic destinations, Harrods and HIA. 

The second boutique at HIA features a range of carefully selected items, including timeless favourites such as Harrods bags, wallets, accessories and food gifting. Harrods gifting products, such as the iconic Harrods shopping bags and the legendary Harrods bear, are renowned across the world. Harrods gifting items give customers a chance to take a piece of the brand away with them to cherish as a permanent memento.

Head of Qatar Duty Free, Mr. Thabet Musleh, said: “We are very excited to launch our second Harrods store at HIA. Harrods is one of the world’s most iconic luxury retailers, and our first store at HIA has been hugely popular among passengers travelling through the award-winning airport. This is why we decided to open an even bigger branch, to give travellers more choice and an enhanced product range of luxury items. By opening our second Harrods store, we will continue to provide travellers with one of the most desirable luxury shopping experiences at Qatar Duty Free.”

Harrods Managing Director, Mr. Michael Ward, said: “Harrods is delighted to be expanding our offering at HIA, one of the most impressive airports in the world. We look forward to showcasing our much-loved Harrods products to the millions of passengers that are set to pass through this year.”

One of the largest duty free retailers in the world, Qatar Duty Free boasts more than 90 elegant boutiques and luxury, high-end stores, as well as more than 30 restaurants and cafes covering an area of 40,000 square meters at Hamad International Airport in Doha, providing travellers with a world-class shopping experience under one roof. Luxury brands available at the five-star airport include Bulgari, Hermes, Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, Mont Blanc, Rolex and Chanel.

HIA, the home of QDF, met a number of significant milestones in 2017, including being classified as a five-star airport by Skytrax, making it one of only five other airports in the world to achieve this status. It was also ranked ‘Sixth Best Airport in the World’ by the 2017 Skytrax World Airport Awards, moving up four places from 2016. HIA has also won the ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ title for three years in a row and ‘Best Staff Service in the Middle East’ for two years in a row.
