2019 financial results: Alternative Airlines’ revenue doubles year-on-year to reach £19.0m

Alternative Airlines saw that revenue from the US alone increased from £3.49m in 2018 to £9.96m in 2019 – a 185% increase.

After another year of tremendous growth, the UK-based online flight-search and booking website highlights a massive 185% increase in US sales as a driving factor.

Alternative Airlines, a UK-based online flight-search and booking website that provides flights from more than 600 airlines worldwide, has released its 2019 financial results. The impressive figures show a 92% increase in revenue, rising from £9.9m in 2018 to £19.0m in 2019. In line with this, Alternative Airlines’ total number of bookings increased by 91% during the same period.

When breaking the numbers down by geographical location, it’s clear that one of the main driving factors in Alternative Airlines’ year-on-year growth came from sales from customers in the US. Alternative Airlines saw that revenue from the US alone increased from £3.49m in 2018 to £9.96m in 2019 – a 185% increase.

Not only did 2019 US sales account for 54% of Alternative Airlines’ overall business, but, remarkably, it also equalled the company’s entire revenue in 2018.

Managing Director of Alternative Airlines, Sam Argyle commented, “This marks another fantastic year of growth for Alternative Airlines. We’re very proud of the continued success with the business growing from £3m to £19m revenue in 3 years and we’re excited to focus on building a £100m company by 2023. Our continued focus on providing an innovative flight-booking platform for customers globally is paying off and the figures coming out of the US is simply outstanding!” Mr.Argyle continued, “whether they’re flying regionally for business or internationally for leisure, we’re offering our US customers a fast, easy, and convenient way to book flights on a multitude of carriers, alongside a variety of ways to pay, including e-wallets, financing options and cryptocurrencies.”

While growth in sales from US customers might be the standout figure from the company’s 2019 financial results, Alternative Airlines has continued to see encouraging growth in markets all across the world. In 2019, Alternative Airlines saw an increase in bookings and revenue from more than 160 different countries. Outside of the US, the countries that saw the most significant growth in revenue were Germany (+129%), UAE (+78%), Canada (+71%) and the UK (+63%).
