Africa Travel Week combines WTM Africa, ILTM Africa and IBTM Africa

Africa Travel Week demand from exhibitors supports WTO’S prediction that inbound to Africa will triple by 2030.

In support of the recent announcement that the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) expects inbound tourism to Africa to triple by 2030, Africa Travel Week, designed to deliver the first event on the continent to combine leisure, luxury travel and meetings industries has been given strong support from regional exhibitors, who wish to participate in the inaugural event.

Taking place in Cape Town over six days, Africa Travel Week will combine WTM Africa, ILTM Africa and IBTM Africa, and expects to attract some 6,500 individuals as buyers, trade visitors or suppliers. Demand from exhibitors representing all three industry sectors is on track to achieve Reed Travel Exhibitions’ objectives to deliver the leading global event for the continent’s travel industry.

Seeing the benefit of Africa Travel Week, Private Safaris Africa – a leading South African Tour Operator and African Safari Specialist – is the first company to take part in all three events – WTM Africa, IBTM Africa and ILTM Africa.

Michael Njogu, Head of Market Managers (East Africa), Private Safaris Africa comments: “After exhibiting at the successful ILTM Africa this year, we created many valuable business opportunities with quality buyers. By participating in all three events at Africa Travel Week, it will give us a greater platform to meet and network with new buyers… all on our doorstep. We are truly looking forward to being part of Africa Travel Week next year.”

Other exhibitors signed up to take part in events within Africa Travel Week 2014 include Vineyeard Hotel & Spa – a deluxe hotel in Cape Town with over 200 years of history; Chitwa Chitwa – a family-owned private game reserve in Savanna and Prins & Prins Diamonds – a South African Diamond specialist producing some of the world’s finest quality gemstones. One and Only, as well Dreams4Africa, Wilderness Safaris and Dare to Explore are also participating.

Craig Moyes, Portfolio Director, Africa Travel Week commented: “We are committed to the African continent and its future as a global player in the leisure, business and luxury tourism sectors and delighted with the response to the inaugural Africa Travel Week. We intend creating some big events to support the business opportunities for our participants and expect to announce these over the coming months”.
