Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Tourism Promotion Ahmed Al-Khadem Sunday expected that the number of tourists coming to Egypt in 2005 would rise to nine million compared to 8.8 million in 2004.



At a press conference he held in Abu Dhabi and attended by Egyptian ambassador to the UAE Fahmi Fayed, he expected a 20 percent rise in Arab tourism to Egypt, adding that 1.5 million tourists, including 32,000 of the UAE alone, visited Egypt in 2004.



He said Egypt`s income of tourism has risen to $ 6.4 billion. Khadam said Egypt is currently paying attention to setting up tourist resorts in the northern coast and Alamein area, developing tourism infrastructure and improving the standard of those working in the tourism sector.
