Legend was named Best Golf Course in the world

Legend Golf & Safari Resort’s unique Signature Golf Course has beaten off competition from some of the most prestigious golf courses across the globe to be named the best on the planet at the World Property Awards.

Designed by 18 of the planet’s greatest male golfers, each hole has the vision of a great golfer at its heart. A par-72, which begins with South African designer Trevor Immelman, the list of signatories who have been honoured to design a hole on the course at the heart of Legend Lodges, Hotels & Resorts’ flagship property in the Waterberg area of Limpopo, reads like a who’s who of world golf: from Padraig Harrington and Justin Rose to Vijay Singh and Sergio Garcia.

Earlier this year the Signature Course was named the best golf course in Africa at the World Property Awards in association with Bloomberg.

At an exclusive presentation dinner in London, England, the championship golf course, managed and maintained by Legend Golf & Safari Resort golf director David Riddle and his team, was hailed the best international golf course at the finals of this year’s World Property Awards, beating off other category winners from Asia Pacific, the UK, Americas and the Middle East.

The World Property Awards are dedicated to finding both the top residential and commercial real-estate developments on the planet. Little wonder then that Africa’s newest development sensation is being rewarded for its innovative development.

Peet Cilliers, CEO of Legend Lodges, Hotels & Resorts, said: “My family, fellow investors and all our staff couldn’t be any more excited about winning this award. We had a vision, which people said was a fantasy. We had a plan that people said was unachievable.

“But we have a team who make vision a reality. We have a team who make the impossible possible. We dedicate this award to all those who believe in us and who have the bravery to see what we see: the most beautiful country, the most amazing people – and in Legend Golf & Safari Resort a very special and unique place which we love, live and breathe and to which we welcome one and all.”

The multi-award winning resort at the heart of the 22,000-hectare, malaria-free Entabeni Safari Conservancy – where the Big 5 roam wild and free – is also home to the 10-hole Tribute Course recreating some of the world’s most famous par-threes.

It also boasts the planet’s most extreme golf hole: the Extreme 19th, the longest and highest par-three on the globe, played from the top of a majestic mountain.

Add in Big 5 game drives in unspoiled African bushveld, conferencing facilities, traditional indoor and outdoor dining venues and a world of activities and you have a truly modern leisure development.

And with more than 200 luxury bushveld suites harmonising with nature and offering luxurious accommodation, this unique concept in resort development is still open to private investors and is perhaps one of the main reasons for the latest international property accolades.
