Agaxtur celebrates 60-year history with Exhibit in Sao Paulo

As part of its expansion plans, Agaxtur is creating an exclusive franchise model, the aim of which is to transform travel agents into franchisees and expand the business, bringing benefits to both parties involved.

SAO PAULO – With great style, Agaxtur, Brazil’s oldest tourism operator, greeted some 400 people for a party to celebrate the company’s 60 years of existence, and the opening of the exhibit, “Voyage through Time,” which recounts the evolution of tourism in Brazil and the world in photos and videos.

Among the guests were friends, partners, tourist agencies, clients and opinion formers who in one way or another have taken part in the company’s history.

Agaxtur is one of the few family companies operating in the national market, and is a leader in the field.

“To speak of Agaxtur’s 60 years and of the visionary man who was my father makes me look to the future with the big responsibility of continuing to make the company grow, doing a good job of serving our clients and contributing to Brazilian tourism,” says President Aldo Leone Filho.

And with an eye on the future, Agaxtur is now setting its sights on new opportunities for investment and growth. In its strategy for 2014, the company is expected to expand its focus on stores in shopping centers, in light of the positive results obtained at Shopping Cidade Jardim shopping center in Sao Paulo. The concept is to take advantage of the convenience for clients strolling through the shopping center to inquire about and even purchase travel packages.

With an eye on the economic potential of the interior of the State of Sao Paulo, which is becoming one of the biggest consumer markets in the country, in 2014 the company is planning to open stores in Campinas and Sao Jose do Rio Preto, among other cities, in response to the growing demand for international packages, mainly to Disney World.

Also as part of its expansion plans, Agaxtur is creating an exclusive franchise model, the aim of which is to transform travel agents into franchisees and expand the business, bringing benefits to both parties involved. The company is also counting on segmented tourism, with differentiated products for incentive areas and sports.

“As it has for the past 60 years, tourism continues to need entrepreneurial companies that look ahead,” says Leone Filho.
