airBaltic to improve service to Istanbul, Turkey

airBaltic serves 60 destinations from its home base in Riga, Latvia. airBaltic offers convenient connections via North Hub Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, CIS and the Middle East.

RIGA – On March 31, Latvian airline airBaltic will start flights from Riga to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport. The improved service will offer convenient travel between the two airports, and beyond to destinations in the Baltics, Scandinavia, Russia, and the CIS.

Michael Grimme, Chief Commercial Officer of airBaltic: “By moving to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen airport we can improve our schedule and connections via Riga for travellers from/to the Baltics, Scandinavia, Russia, and the CIS. Furthermore, the move also helps to reduce travel time for our customers between the central Istanbul and the airport.”

airBaltic will fly from Riga to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen daily. Passengers will board a Boeing 737-300 aircraft for a flight that will last for 2 hours and 55 minutes. One-way ticket prices will start at LVL 39 (EUR 55), including airport fees and transaction costs.

To welcome airBaltic’s flight to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen, the airport management company ISG will offer complimentary shuttle bus services between the airport and Taksim Square for the customers of airBaltic for one month.

For summer 2013, airBaltic has introduced six new destinations – Prague (Czech Republic), Heviz-Balaton (Hungary), Olbia (Sardinia, Italy), Rijeka (Croatia), Larnaca (Cyprus), and Malta.
