American Airlines Center upgrades digital fan experience with free AT&T Wi-Fi

Fans can connect to mobile Internet, social networks and apps via more than 315 AT&T Wi-Fi Access Points.

DALLAS – American Airlines Center has worked with AT&T to upgrade the fan experience and bring spectators closer to the action than ever before, launching a new Wi-Fi network at the 21,000-plus seat facility with more than 315 new AT&T Wi-Fi access points. The AT&T Wi-Fi network is broadcast using Aruba equipment and facilitated by Aruba Mobility Controllers.

Key Facts

  • American Airlines Center is now equipped with more than 315 AT&T Wi-Fi access points – allowing fans to connect, share on social networks and engage with teams throughout the facility including the seat, concourse and concession stand areas.
  • The Wi-Fi service is complimentary. Wi-Fi data usage does not count toward AT&T users’ monthly data plans.
  • AT&T customers with a Wi-Fi enabled AT&T smartphone or tablet can connect through an auto-authentication process to the Wi-Fi network – no setup or log-in required.
  • Fans with a compatible Wi-Fi enabled smartphone or tablet can easily connect to the AT&T network through a simple log-in.

“We strive to provide everyone who walks through the doors of American Airlines Center with a once in a lifetime experience,” said Lori Glasser-Seinera, Vice President, Corporate Sponsorship at American Airlines Center. “AT&T Wi-Fi enables our customers to share those memories on their social networks seamlessly.”

“Providing Wi-Fi at premier venues like American Airlines Center is part of our strategy to mobilize everything for our customers,” said Aaron Coleman, AVP, AT&T Wi-Fi Solutions. “By working with stadium venues to strategically design and deploy an in-stadium network we can satisfy the connectivity demands of the business and enhance the way teams and venues engage with their fans.”

AT&T will manage the Wi-Fi network inside the American Airlines Center and provide customer support around the clock to help ensure continuous high quality of service. The Wi-Fi network also compliments an existing 4G LTE-capable DAS network at the venue installed in December 2012.

“AT&T brought us a customized solution that is easy to manage and enables our fans to have seamless data connectivity inside American Airlines Center,” said Joe Heinlein, IT Director at American Airlines Center.
