Asia-Pacific tourism ministerial meeting ends

The Asia-Pacific Tourism Ministerial Meeting, held jointly by the Viet Nam Tourism Administration

The Asia-Pacific Tourism Ministerial Meeting, held jointly by the Viet Nam Tourism Administration and the World Tourism Organisation in Hue City, was closed on Saturday The meeting released a Hue statement on cultural tourism and poverty reduction, which pledged to exert great efforts to boost cultural tourism development, to further support the poor living around heritage sites by generating jobs, restoring local traditions, promoting links among tourism businesses, discovering new cultural heritages and expanding tourism promotion.



The participants focused discussions on the role of cultural tourism in poverty reduction, responsibilities in managing and tapping cultural tourism resources effectively for job generation and increasing income for the poor.



On the sidelines of the meeting, General Director Vo Thi Thang of the Viet Nam Tourism Administration signed an agreement on tourism cooperations with Sri Lanka`s Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment Promotion, Annura Bandaranaike.
