Bangkok based B2B travel agent Khiri Travel announced a partnership with ScottAsia Communications as part of the travel firm’s ambitious expansion plans for the region. Since 1994 Khiri Travel has specialized in providing authentic and innovative tour products and accommodation solutions for trips in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. The company serves leading mainstream and specialist travel agents in Europe, North America and Asia.
Khiri Travel, which has seven offices in the region, has ambitious expansion plans that will see it restructure internally, open new offices, enter new markets and enhance its corporate social responsibility agenda.
Its new partner, ScottAsia Communications, is a Bangkok-based PR firm specializing in communication services for the travel industry in Asia. Its founder, Ken Scott, created the company in 2006 drawing on 15 years’ experience mostly as a travel journalist in Asia and six years as manager and director of communications at the Pacific Asia Travel Association head office in Thailand.
Khiri Travel co-founder, Mr Willem Niemeijer, said: "ScottAsia and Khiri Travel are a good fit. Both companies believe in responsible travel. Our mutual first-hand experiences, tourism contacts in the region and belief in its people and cultures also complement each other. We are very confident about the future and what we can achieve together."
Khiri Travel, a full PATA member, will attend both PATA Travel Mart September 22-25 in Hangzhou, China, ITB Asia, 21-23 October in Singapore, ATF 26-28 January in Brunei and ITB Berlin, 10-12 March next year.

Khiri Travel co-owner, Mr Frans Betgem, said that while international arrivals into Thailand and Indochina had contracted over the last few months, there are some signs of an upturn and the company is realistically optimistic for the future. "We are laying the foundations for long-term growth," said Mr Betgem. "Our ability to pioneer and deliver thoughtful and unique travel experiences at all budget levels will be key to our continued expansion."
