Budapest Airport celebrates launch of Wizz Air flights to Moscow

This new route, which will be operated on an Airbus A320 will serve a year round schedule on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday with return flights departing Moscow on the same days at 16.05.

Budapest Airport marked the inaugural Wizz Air flight from Budapest to Moscow, on 23 September 2013. The flight, which will operate five times a week, departed on time at 11.05 arriving into Moscow’s Vnukovo airport at 15.30 local. This new route, which will be operated on an Airbus A320 will serve a year round schedule on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday with return flights departing Moscow on the same days at 16.05.

This brings to 41 the total number of destinations Wizz Air now serves from Budapest Airport. To celebrate the occasion a celebratory cake formed from a circle of seven Wizzair branded Matrojska, the famous Russian nesting dolls, was handed over by Patrick Bohl, Head of Airline Business Development to Daniel de Carvalho, from Corporate Communications, Wizzair.

The news follows hard on the heels of the announcement that Budapest’s largest operator, Wizz Air, will be basing an eighth aircraft, an Airbus A320 at Budapest in March 2014 and demonstrates Wizz Air’s growth at the airport.

Kam Jandu, Chief Commercial officer, for Budapest Airport said, “We are pleased to welcome the start of another Wizz Air route and anticipate this will become an extremely popular schedule.  It offers business travellers another regular direct connection between two major capital cities, and leisure travellers the opportunity for long weekends, or extended breaks between two culturally rich destinations.”
