Commencing its third route from Cologne Bonn, the Romanian carrier’s new twice-weekly service becomes the fourth link to the central European country offered from the airport.
Experiencing a strong acceleration in passenger traffic during the first quarter of 2016, Cologne Bonn recorded 14% month-on-month growth in May, for the first time in its history welcoming more than one million visitors in a month. Continuing the expansion of its route network, the airport celebrated Blue Air’s inaugural flight to Iasi on 3 June.
Commencing its third route from Cologne Bonn, the Romanian carrier’s new twice-weekly service becomes the fourth link to the central European country offered from the airport. Facing no competition on the airport pair, Blue Air now fills 74% of all weekly scheduled flights from Cologne Bonn to Romania, with 1,000 weekly seats (according to OAG Schedules Analyser, week commencing 6 June).
Commenting at the launch, Michael Garvens, Chairman of the Management Board, Cologne Bonn Airport said: “Expanding our route network with Blue Air’s connection to Iasi, adds yet another new and exciting destination for our passengers.”
"We are very pleased with the inclusion of the third direct flight from Cologne Bonn, this time to our base in Iasi, reinforcing our presence at the airport," added Tudor Constantinescu, CCO, Blue Air.
