Domestic low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines launches new service from Miami

MIA’s milestone 100th carrier now offering 40 weekly flights to five U.S. destinations.
MIAMI – Low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines launched service from Miami International Airport this weekend with a full lineup of flights, becoming the airport’s largest-ever domestic low-cost carrier – and 100th overall carrier – in the process. The Denver-based airline now offers its popular budget-friendly service from Miami to five leading U.S. destinations: Chicago; Denver; New York City; Philadelphia; and Washington, D.C.
On Saturday, Frontier began offering: daily service to Philadelphia; twice-daily flights to New York’s LaGuardia Airport; and a slate of 10 weekly flights to its Denver hub. On Sunday, the carrier launched daily service from Miami to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and twice-weekly service (Thursday, Sunday) to Washington Dulles International Airport. In all, Frontier is offering 40 weekly departures from MIA. All flights are operated using the carrier’s 148-seat Airbus A319 and 168-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
We are proud to welcome Frontier Airlines as our largest low-cost carrier ever and our 100th carrier at MIA,” said Emilio T. Gonzalez, Miami-Dade Aviation Director. “Their low-fare options to five major U.S. cities add even more diversity to our growing air service network and extend our reach across America even further. We offer our deepest congratulations and wish them continued success in their expansion to Miami.
Frontier, which recently unveiled a new livery that retains the airline’s popular animal tails, was founded in 1994.
