Staff volunteer as first step in corporate patron relationship with WWT

AirPlus supports Wetlands and Wildfowl Trust

AirPlus International is delighted to have become a supporter and Corporate Patron of WWT (Wetlands and Wildfowl Trust). AirPlus is pleased to offer funding and assistance to such an inspirational environmental project. Through this new relationship AirPlus hopes to make a real difference to the local and national community, by raising money and awareness and offering hands on help at local WWT centres.

The UK AirPlus team volunteered for two days in June, where staff were involved in weeding, cleaning, painting, moving turf and creating walls for small wildlife to inhabit. The team took part in their efforts come rain or shine! AirPlus plan to use their corporate patron status to raise awareness of the wetlands centres with some local schools. AirPlus will arrange a series of trips for children to the centres so that they can get closer to nature.

The Wetlands & Wildfowl Trust is a leading UK consrvation organisation saving wetlands for wildlife and people across the world.

Founded in 1946 by the naturalist and artist, the late Sir Peter Scott, WWT is the only UK charity with a national network of nine specialist wetland visitor centres. Their purpose is to save wetlands and their wildlife and raise awareness of the issues that affect their survival. To enhance people’s lives through learning about and being close to nature and inspiring them to help WWT’s conservation work worldwide.

Yael Klein, Managing Director of AirPlus International in the UK says: “We are really pleased to be involved with WWT going forward, it is a truly worthwhile cause and gives AirPlus in the UK the opportunity to get involved with the local community and give something back”.

John Creedon, Corporate Relations Manager at WWT says: “The support of AirPlus for our conservation and education programmes is greatly/warmly welcomed by WWT. Their membership of our Corporate Patron’s scheme will contribute to this vital work around the world. We are also keen to develop a more local relationship through the London Wetland Centre so close to the AirPlus offices. Their staff have already taken part in volunteering days at the centres – work that benefits the local community and environment. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with this company in the years ahead.”
