Worldspan<.> announced an agreement with Airtours<.> to provide all of the tour operator`s major brands including Going Places, Jetset Tours & Flights, Tradewinds, Bridge, Cresta, FTi Touristik and Travel Trend with technology solutions across Europe.



Airtours has signed up for a range of products which have been tailored to the needs of each brand. The aim is to provide all of Airtours`s European locations with fully integrated solutions by March 2002. The Worldspan technology will be rolled out across the UK, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium and Holland and completion is expected by March 2002.



James Jennings, Group Strategy Director for Airtours said: We are delighted to be extending our relationship with one of the market leaders in reservations and e-commerce technology. Worldspan was able to offer competitive, customised solutions and a flexibility to integrate them with our existing systems. We believe that this deal will help us offer even better customer service and product and fare availability to our customers.



Mike Parks, general manager and senior vice president of Worldwide Travel Distribution from Worldspan said: This agreement further underlines Worldspan`s strength in the European leisure market. Last year Airtours carried 15 million customers and we are proud to have one of Europe`s largest tour operators on board.



Also working closely with Airtours on this project was RWA, a software consultancy and solutions company. RWA has managed the project from inception to completion, providing consultancy on GDS usage and selection and project managing the migration process across Airtours pan-European businesses.



Worldspan products that are being developed and implemented for Airtours are: Worldspan Go, Universal Messaging, Structured Messaging Interface (SMI).
