Environmentally-friendly proposals for the production of energy was examined during a meeting of city councillors at Lassithi, Crete last week.
They studied an agreement signed by Crete`s technical and vocational school (TEI) and the Lassithi Development Association concerning wind-powered energy. Councillors approved a funding plan for the construction of the necessary equipment, that will be adapted to suit the Mediterranean climate.
The devices are designed to meet the energy needs of homes and holiday houses located beyond the electricity network as well as units offering alternative forms of tourism. It is hoped this will lead to mass production of the equipment, for which EU funding has already been secured.
