Asia is becoming the world`s heated destination in a time when global tourism is booming on a comprehensive scale, said Xu Jing, director of the Asia and Pacific region of the World Tourism Organization according to China News.
According to statistics from the World Tourism Organization, global tourism industry increased substantially in 2004 when about 760 million international tourists traveled around the world, 10 per cent more than last year.
Compared with tourism in 2000, most regions witnessed growth except north and south America. Tourism in Asia gained a strong rebound in 2004 from previous year`s recession, with 153 million international tourists visiting the region, accounting for 20 per cent of the total number in the world.
