Travelers are an eco-conscious group according to a joint survey conducted by The GO Group, LLC, an international ground transportation provider and GO Airport Express, a GO Group member company based in Chicago. 71% of the survey respondents say it is either important or very important to try and reduce their carbon footprint while traveling.
The companies, which provide door-to-door airport shuttle services, asked travelers: "How important is it to you to reduce your carbon footprint while traveling?" More than 2000 people responded.
Just 13% of participants responded that it was not important, while 15% said they hadn’t thought about it at all.
"These results indicate that travelers are environmentally aware, and we will continue to explore ways we can help them reduce their carbon footprint," says John McCarthy, president, The GO Group, LLC. "By nature, shared rides are green rides. With six people on board, a van uses only 30 percent of the fuel that six cars would use and creates 54 percent fewer carbon emissions."
Many of the GO Group companies, including those serving San Francisco International, Seattle-Tacoma International, Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International, Dallas-Ft. Worth and Puerto Rico’s Luis Munoz Marin International are converting all or part of their fleets to alternative fuels – either compressed natural gas (CNG) or propane. While GO companies in Los Angeles (serving all southern California airports) and Chicago (serving Midway and O’Hare) also are in the process of doing so.
The GO Group, LLC is a one-stop source for door-to-door airport shuttle services. Each year, its members transport some 13 million passengers to and from airports in the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe.
