British Virgin Islands launches major initiatives at World Travel Market 2005

The British Virgin Islands Tourist Office is launching several new initiatives…

The British Virgin Islands Tourist Office is launching several new initiatives for consumers and the travel trade at this year`s World Travel Market:

New website and brand launch

The BVI Tourist Board will reveal its new branding and website with a UK portal dedicated to visitors from the UK. The initiative is part of a global review of the BVI`s brand image and web presence.

BVI launches branded taxis as part of new ad campaign

The British Virgin Islands will be launching 5 branded taxis in conjunction with the CTO at World Travel Market as part of its on-going advertising campaign to raise consumer awareness and promote its new website. The taxis will be the first media used to reveal the destination`s new brand identity. Comments BVI Regional Marketing and PR Manager, Lynne Morris, We have a strong campaign planned for 2006 which will target a wider audience as well as focusing on the unique attributes of the BVI. The taxi campaign will draw attention to our new website as well as offering industry partners the chance to participate with tactical messages through use of the tip-up seats. We will continue to work closely with tour operator partners throughout our media campaign, a strategy which has already proved extremely successful this year.

UK on-line training academy

The British Virgin Islands launches its own on-line training manual for the travel trade at World Travel Market, dedicated to bringing in-depth knowledge of the destination direct to travel agents and tour operators. Comments UK Regional marketing and sales manager, Christine Taylor: This initiative is a much needed enhancement to our on-site training service already available to the travel trade. With over fifty islands in just one destination and the complexities that represents, there is a real need for in-depth training available to a much wider audience. Our new on-line training academy will empower travel trade professionals to sell the destination with greater confidence. The on-line training academy will also entitle participants to earn points towards the CTO`s Caribbean Travel Training Programme as well as qualifying participants for fam trips and other rewards.

BVI targets repeat visitors with consumer incentives through top tour Operators

In a move to attract repeat visitors to the destination, the BVI Tourist Board is launching a visitor loyalty club, the BVIP Club, at World Travel Market. The scheme will be channelled through tour operators to the destination who can utilise the scheme to offer added value to potential repeat visitors to the destination. Comments Taylor, Once visitors have experienced the BVI, they are more likely to consider holidaying in the destination again. This initiative will allow us to work more closely with our tour operator partners to generate repeat bookings, whilst offering an added value element to the consumer. It`s a win win situation for all.
