easyJet, announced it will be adding an extra aircraft to its South West base and introducing three NEW routes from Bristol International Airport to Inverness, Murcia and Pisa.

The additional aircraft will increase the fleet based at Bristol International Airport to eight, operating a choice of 22 destinations, with 66 daily flights. In the last year easyJet has introduced an additional nine new destinations making Bristol the largest UK base outside of London, with over 2.4 million passengers expected to travel in the next 12 months.

The new service to Inverness will add to easyJet`s current choice of routes to Scotland and provide easier access to the beautiful Highlands for both business and leisure travellers alike, the route is also expected to be particularly popular with those wanting to visit friends and relatives.

The services to Murcia and Pisa are new to the easyJet network and Bristol International Airport offers the only easyJet flights from the UK. The Murcia region is situated between the mountains of Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha, with easy access to the 250km of Mediterranean coastline called the Costa Calida. The primary industry of the region is fruit growing and canning and the thousands of orchards add to the truly Spanish atmosphere, that is attracting increasing numbers of second home owners.

The world famous city of Pisa, with its Romanesque splendour and leaning tower is steeped in maritime history and cultural sights. The Campo dei Miracoli ranks as one of the worlds most beautiful squares and with its waterfront boulevards, palazzo, cathedral, and splendid churches the city is the perfect place for a relaxing stroll to enjoy the historic surroundings and cafe culture. Pisa is also the gateway to the gentle hills and valleys of Tuscany famous for its captivating countryside filled with vineyards and olive groves.

Ray Webster, easyJet Chief Executive commented: Today is an exciting day for easyJet, with the introduction of an 8th aircraft to our Bristol base we can give consumers from the South West the opportunity to explore these fantastic new destinations, not currently served by any other airline. This announcement is a further step in easyJet`s expansion plans and reflects our commitment to our base at Bristol International Airport.

Tony Hallwood, Aviation Development Director at Bristol International Airport commented: Today`s announcement is great news both for Bristol International and our customers. easyJet`s eighth based aircraft will see the introduction of three important new daily routes, from 7th July, to Pisa in Italy, Murcia in Spain, and Inverness in Scotland.

Pisa is expected to be a popular holiday and business destination, providing a natural gateway to Tuscany. This is fantastic news for second home owners, and provides easy access to the commercial centres of both Florence and Pisa. Murcia`s location in the Costa Calde region of Spain gives overseas property owners access to the attractive port area of Mazarron and the fantastic La Manga hotel and sports complex. Finally, Inverness will provide business and leisure travellers with a quick and cost effective route to the north of Scotland and its dramatic Highlands.

Together these new routes are superb news for travellers from the south west and will further boost business and tourism links between the region, Scotland and the rest of Europe.
