Epathlon welcomes two new members

With its sights firmly set on the 2004<.> Olympics in Athens, the sports, cultural and media consortium Epathlon has welcomed two new members. Investment firm Finco AE and Decathlon, a company specialising in architectural studies for sporting venues, join 10 firms which include Afea Travel AE, Airtour Greece, Aktina, Goldair Tours SA, GS Travel AE and Amathus Hellas.
As Goldair director Takis Meletis noted, despite the fact that Epathlon has only been operating for a few months, it has made a strong impact in the field of sports tourism. It has participated in an international equestrian championship, Athens CSIO-W 99, the Parthenon handball tournament and the Temes Greek Seniors Open golfing event. It has already made contact with all Olympic committees and international federations offering athletes transfer and accommodation packages combined with training at sports facilities in Greece and other Mediterranean countries.
Epathlon is planning two major conferences in 2000 concerned with sports and science while it has compiled tour packages for the Sydney 2000 Games directed at the corporate sector. The consortium will be the sole provider of transfer and accommodation for teams, officials and visitors attending the 47th Acropolis Rally….
