Greek intervention for tourism with international political impact

Not to be accepted as members of World Tourism Organization tourism bodies which violate the international legitimacy and they are not members of United Nations, suggested Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Tourism in Greece Anastasios Liaskos. His proposal had been approved in the discussions for the amendments in the 16th General Assembly of WTO in Dakar, Senegal.

General Assembly accepted that such nominations are valid only for state members of United Nations, excluding entities as the self-called ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’.

Furthermore, with a second amendment which had been asserted by the Cyprus Republic and had the support of the Greek delegation, declared that the General Assembly will not examine the nomination of such entities, if their base is in a soil that is in a state of dispute in the U.N or if their activities are related to the particular soil. But this declaration is not valid if a full member state has no object to the submission of a nomination by such entity or its entry in the Organization.

After the intervention of the Greek Delegation, the entry of bodies as affiliated members of WTO, which do not fulfill the mentioned requirements, is not valid.
