Gulf Air, the national carrier for the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is to introduce four more non-stop flights between Muscat and London.

Following the success of the daily, non-stop flights from Muscat to London Heathrow, the new flights will further reinforce Gulf Air`s position as the biggest operator to the Gulf from Heathrow.

All flights will be on Gulf Air`s luxurious ultra-long haul Airbus A330 aircraft, which are currently undergoing a major refurbishment programme as part of a US$10 million upgrade programme. VIPs, travel trade and corporate guests viewed the first aircraft to be completed last month when it stopped in Oman as part of a three country roadshow.

We have been delighted with the response to the daily service since it was introduced last June said Mahfood Ali Al Harthy, Gulf Air`s Regional General Manager-Gulf. Load factors have continually exceeded all expectations, which proves it is commercially viable to introduce these additional flights.

Gulf Air was the first and is still the only carrier to operate such a service, which further emphasises one of our core business objectives – to get customers where they want to go, when they want to go,
he adds.

Jaffer Juma, Gulf Air`s General Manager Oman adds that premium class travellers will be able to enjoy the luxurious surroundings of Gulf Air`s new first and business class cabins which feature new seating, furnishing and service.

When the programme of refurbishment is completed by the end of June customers will be able to enjoy a host of benefits, the likes of which have never been experienced on commercial aircraft before, he said.

Gulf Air`s renewed commitment to luxury doesn`t end in the air. Arabian hospitality is ensured from start to finish, from limousine transfers to and form Seeb International Airport and meet and greet services, to new premium check-in counters, with fast-track departures and arrivals, complemented by state-of-the-art e-kiosks and e-check-in.

Meanwhile VisitBritain praised the introduction of the additional flights.

As we said last June, at the launch of the new service, the UK, and London in particular, has always been a popular destination among Omanis, said Mark Miller, VisitBritain`s Regional Manager – Middle East and Africa. There is no doubt that the introduction of this very convenient service has boosted interest and the volume of visitors even further. London continues to be one of Europe`s most popular destinations, and with Oman becoming an increasing popular tourist destination for Europeans. These additional services give travellers more convenience and better options, which benefits both countries.

Gulf Air operates more international flights from Seeb International Airport than any other carrier, with 120 flights a week serving the needs of both business and leisure customers.
