lastminute.com plc announced the appointment of Alan Barber as a non-executive director with effect 16 September 2004. Alan, who is 56 years old, has also been appointed as Chairman of the Company`s Audit Committee.
Alan worked at KPMG for 35 years until May 2004, and had been a partner since 1979. He had held a number of senior management and client positions within KPMG covering a broad range of sectors including travel and retail and gained significant experience advising clients on strategic and financial matters. In addition, Alan has significant experience in SEC related matters and has advised on numerous international private and public company acquisitions. Alan has also spent periods of his working life abroad and on secondment to various commercial organisations.
Alan has an economics degree and is also a non-executive director of Teather & Greenwood.
