Lufthansa ETIX now also available at Greek travel agencies

Lufthansa Electronic Tickets can now be issued not only by the Lufthansa ticket office, but also by travel agencies working with Worldspan or Galileo reservation systems. Also Amadeus is working on implementing this system soon.



Since Lufthansa first introduced ETIX two years ago, they have been permanently working on technical solutions for offering travel agencies also the advantage of making use of Electronic ticketing. Together with Worldspan and Galileo this effort has become reality: now travelers doing flight reservations through agencies can book their Lufthansa flights with a simple telephone call. Being registered through the Miles & More member card or any credit card the passengers do not need to pick up the paper ticket at their agency, but just proceed to the airport on the day of departure. At check-in the Miles & More member card or credit card has to be presented for issuing the boarding pass. Here Lufthansa also offers the electronic check in terminal at Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos, which makes check-in easy and fast, without waiting in the line.



Electronic ticketing by travel agencies is a great brake-through for the Greek market. For the travelers this procedure has got several advantages: Tickets cannot be left behind. Furthermore changes of flight reservations do not make it necessary anymore to visit again the travel agent and to issue a new ticket – the change will be done electronically only. Also the passengers have got several check-in options, which allow quick and fast procedures: check-in through the web even from home or from the office: www.lufthansa.com, check-in at the Check-in terminal at the airport or the classic way with the help of check-in personnel. Another advantage is that reservations can still be done the same day just before check in at departure.



The possibility of electronic ticketing saves time and money for the passengers as well as for the travel agency.



The Greek market has accepted very well the electronic ticketing. Especially frequent flyers make use of this fast and easy procedure. The first months of 2003 show an increased use of electronic ticketing. Meanwhile 10% of all travelers to Germany use ETIX. Also Lufthansa registers a satisfactory increase in online bookings. Already during the first three months of the year 2003, 40% of the total number of online bookings in 2002 have been reached.
