The Swiss Federal Office for Civil Aviation (FOCA) surprised users of Lugano Airport on Thursday, 21st of August by proposing new regulations on approaches to the airport. SWISS will be assessing the likely impact of the new regulations on its flight operations over the next few weeks, and will then be submitting its views to the FOCA within the extremely short consultation period given. Flight operations to and from Lugano are not yet affected by the new regulations.
SWISS will be making every effort to ensure continued safe and reliable flight operations to and from Lugano Airport in collaboration with the FOCA, its airport partners and Canton Ticino. The company will now be analysing the situation carefully and at length. Flight operations to and from Lugano will continue as atpresent until a final decision is taken by the FOCA on the new regulations.
