New vice president to lead AMEX business travel in Central Europe and Nordic regions

American Express Business Travel announced the appointment of Kaveh Atrak as Vice President, General Manager for Central Europe and Nordic regions, effective immediately. The new role combines Kaveh’s current role as Vice President and General Manager, Nordic region with responsibility for Central Europe[1], where he will succeed Marc Hildebrand who has made the decision to leave American Express to take up a role outside the company.

David Herrick, Senior Vice President Business Travel EMEA and Global Foreign Exchange Services, American Express, said, "Our increased focus on Central Europe has driven greater levels of success in the region in the past two years, with sales up and our client focus resulting in the successful launch of the joint venture with First Business Travel. With Marc’s leadership, we have developed a very strong platform for continued growth and success – a platform which our strong German leadership team will continue to build on with Kaveh."

"As we again move into a new phase of growth in the region, this expanded new role will provide us with the best foundations for our service.  Kaveh’s strong experience, leadership and client focus has brought significant success in the Nordic region. Combined with his previous experience in Central Europe, Kaveh’s background will be critical as we continue to focus on our commitment to our customers in the important Central European and Nordic marketplace."

Kaveh commented, "I’m excited to have this new opportunity and once again be part of the important Central European region, and the strong local leadership.  We have extremely focused and engaged teams in place and our local knowledge, understanding and focus will be key to our success in delivering best in class service, solutions and savings for our customers, particularly as we drive our growth in Germany."
