Shannon Airport has announced its summer season schedule with a total of 34 direct destinations and almost 1.2 million seats available from the western region’s largest airport. During the summer Shannon will have direct access, whether through scheduled or chartered services, to 34 locations in countries such as England, Scotland, the United State, Canada, Spain, France, Portugal, Turkey, Croatia, Switzerland, Poland and Austria. The summer season runs from the start of April to the end of October.
Announcing the summer season schedule, Shannon Airport Acting Director Niall MacCarthy said that despite the difficult global aviation market and local economic challenges, Shannon is preparing for a busy summer.
“This reaffirms again the very important role that Shannon Airport plays in the lives of people across this region. Almost 1.2 million seats will be available for sale from Shannon to 34 different direct locations this summer and we are delighted to be able to make these services available for both business and leisure use.
“Included in this are a number of new services for this year, including Bodrum in Turkey and Rennes in France.
“We also have both Aer Lingus (Boston and JFK) and Delta (JFK) returning with their transatlantic services in the summer, adding to the very successful year round service by Continental into Newark. Indeed, we are only the second airport in the country operating services into the US."
