Swissport International airport ground handling group, is sad to announce that its subsidiary company Swissport UK Limited at London-Heathrow will stop their operational activities today, Tuesday morning, 0500 GMT.
It is with regret that following a number of years running an unprofitable business at Heathrow Airport and, more recently, extensive attempts to reverse the loss being sustained by the company, Swissport UK Limited will be placed into administration.
Swissport UK Limited is the airport ground handling business based in the passenger terminals of Heathrow Airport and does not include either the cargo service centre at Heathrow Airport or the highly successful businesses operating at other UK airports, either under or formerly under the Groundstar name.
Lengthy negotiations with both staff representatives and a major customer to find an alternative solution have been unsuccessful.
The remaining parts of the Swissport business in the UK, which previously traded as Groundstar, remain buoyant and are currently enjoying the prospect of healthy growth. The Swissport International business, across Europe and the rest of the world is similarly healthy and this announcement does not affect any other part of the business.
