The Societa Palazzo dei Congressi has informed Convention Bureau della Riviera di Rimini (the Rimini Fiera group company responsible for the management of Rimini’s new Palacongressi Conference Centre) of the necessity to postpone the venue’s opening.
Consequently, this modifies the program of activity at the new Conference Centre, which should have hosted the first event from May 5th to 8th. This event, as the others foreseen prior to the inauguration date, will be held in the present conference venue (with the exception of the BTC Meetings and Events Industry in Italy expo, to be staged at Rimini Expo Centre), absolutely respecting and taking into full consideration the requirements of the clientele, and without in any way prejudicing the local economy.
The official inauguration is therefore scheduled for Saturday 11th September 2010. A few days later, on the 14th to be precise, Rimini’s Palacongressi will host an important world conference on biotechnology, IBS 2010, 14th International Biotechnology Symposium and Exhibition.
Convention Bureau della Riviera di Rimini Chairrman Mauro Ioli comments, “We are convinced that launching our Conference Centre’s operations with an event of world importance is an excellent auspice for the future. IBS 2010 is the result of positive cooperation activated in our area; the fact that it is being held in Rimini is the result of the knowledge and expertise of authoritative academicians from the University of Bologna involved in the biotechnology research field.”
The previous edition of the IBS was held in China in 2008; this year over a thousand scholars from all over the world are awaited in Rimini.
Regarding the postponement of the Palacongressi opening date, re-scheduled for September, Ioli adds: “This decision, taken following an in-depth analytical technical assessment with the construction company, was taken to ensure the utmost secure guarantee of the finishing work before proceeding with the final stages of installing furnishings, fittings and technology, according to the strictest quality and reliability criteria, indispensable for a venue of great prestige, such as the new Palacongressi conference centre”.
