The Travel Institute recently welcomed Bill Leiber, CTC, as their new Senior Vice President of Business Development.
Bill`s 37 years of travel industry experience, his impeccable reputation, and his intimate understanding of suppliers` and travel sellers` need for returns on their educational investments, makes him a natural for this position, said Scott Ahlsmith, CTC, chairman of The Travel Institute`s Board of Trustees. Adding Bill to The Travel Institute`s team improves our value proposition to suppliers as well as satisfying the continuing educational requirements of travel professionals. Ahlsmith also noted that Leiber would be working side-by-side with Executive Vice President and General Manager, Maureen Kennedy to achieve the goals of The Travel Institute.
For the last 41 years, The Travel Institute has been dedicated to providing the gift of knowledge to those professionals determined to improve their value to their customers. I think that agency consolidation and the impact of the Internet have converged to create the ideal time for The Travel Institute to reformulate its approach to the marketplace and thereby improve its relevancy and value to everyone in the travel community, said Leiber. For me, a key element will be to link the Institute`s dictum of `learn to earn` with the travel supplier`s concept of `pay for play.` Fundamentally, professionalism and profitability for all distribution partners creates a win-win scenario.
When presented with this opportunity, Leiber added, I quickly saw the critical role a neutral, third-party professional organization plays in the travel industry. It didn`t take me long to grasp the need for a strong Travel Institute and to want to be a part of such a vital and vibrant staff.
