Thomas Cook expects rise in bookings if Greece leaves the eurozone

A surge in bookings in Greece is been expected by British tour operator Thomas Cook if the country leaves the eurozone. In that case the holidays in Greece would propably become better value.

"If Greece exits (the euro), for the tourism industry it could be very profitable,"
interim chief executive Sam Weihagen said after the company posted a steep first-half loss on Thursday.

"Most probably holidays to Greece will be more profitable for holiday-makers than they are today and places like Spain could lose competitiveness," he told reporters.

According to Thomas Cook summer bookings from Germans were down almost 20% from last year. On the hand bookings from other countries had held up.
