Vueling extends Cardiff-Alicante flights

Vueling has announced the extension of its operations to the popular Spanish destination of Alicante. The three times weekly service (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) will start on June 24th using 150-seat Airbus A319 aircraft. The flights were originally scheduled to end in the middle of September, however, owing to demand, operations will now continue right through to the end of the summer season on October 27th.

New to Cardiff Airport for 2012, Vueling is already operating three scheduled flights per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) between the Welsh capital and Barcelona-El Prat Airport utilising Airbus A320 aircraft offering allocated seating and a range of benefits for business travellers.

In addition, also from June 24th, Vueling will further bolster its route network from Cardiff Airport with the start of services to Palma de Mallorca operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, enabling UK passengers to enjoy three leader destinations direct from south Wales.

Spencer Birns, Cardiff Airport’s Head of Commercial Operations and Air Services Development, said: “We are delighted with Vueling’s flights out of Cardiff, the Barcelona route has been well received and we’re confident Alicante and Palma will be equally popular when they start next month. The extension of the Alicante flights to the end of October is especially welcome, providing travellers from Wales with plenty of opportunity to make the most of some late summer sun.”

Cardiff originating passengers can also access a wealth of onward connections via Vueling’s successful Barcelona Hub operations, currently accessing more than 40 destinations throughout Europe and North-Africa, including the Greek Islands of Santorini and Crete, Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, as well as Gran Canaria, Malta, Malaga, San Sebastian, Rome and Venice, with full through baggage check-in Cardiff to final destination.
