Iberia welcomed a new Airbus A-319 to its fleet, registered as EC-JEI, and named Xativa

Iberia welcomed a new Airbus A-319 to its fleet, registered as EC-JEI, and named Xativa. The new aircraft, equipped to carry 132 passengers, will operate on short- and medium-range domestic and European routes.

The new arrival is Iberia`s seventh Airbus A-319, an aircraft that features more silent operations than others in its class, along with the latest technical advances and enhanced customer services. It is Iberia`s 75th aircraft from the Airbus A-320 family, which also includes A-320s and A-321s.

The incorporation of this aircraft comes as part of Iberia`s fleet renewal and expansion programme that was launched in 1998, with the object of giving the airline the most modern aircraft with the best features and lower fuel, operating, and maintenance costs.

Like other Iberia Airbus A-319s, the new aircraft is named for a major Spanish tourist site, in this instance the monumental city of Xativa on the Mediterranean coast in the province of Valencia. The city features imposing Gothic shrines as well as citrus groves and excellent beaches.
