Zoom Airlines adds more services to Canada

With many of the North American ski resorts already experiencing some great snow fall this year, now is the time to start booking your ski flights according to Zoom Airlines. The demand in Zoom’s low-cost ski flights last season resulted in an expansion of services to cope with demand throughout this winter. The level of demand was also encouraged by excellent snow conditions experienced by Canada’s main ski resorts of British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec last season, with this trend looking set to continue this year.

This winter a new weekly Belfast to Vancouver route has been introduced allowing Zoom to tap into the localised and thriving snowsports market in Northern Ireland.

Zoom has also introduced an additional weekly scheduled flight from London Gatwick to Vancouver throughout the winter, increasing the frequency on this route to three per week and flights from London Gatwick to Montreal are to double to two per week. From Glasgow and Manchester a weekly services will continue to Vancouver and Calgary.

Lori Burke, Marketing Manager for Zoom Airlines said: “I am delighted to be offering new routes, greater frequency and flexibility on our Canadian winter ski flights this season. At prices equivalent to what you would pay for a European ski holiday, Zoom really is the airline of choice for a fantastic winter sports holiday. Canada holds a strong position as a destination in the UK snowsports market where skiing and boarding conditions are truly world class.”

According to the Ski Club of Great Britain’s 2007 Snowsports Analysis, the British ski and snowsports market has again witness a growth of 3.4% year-on-year, with over 1.31million people taking wintersports holidays from the UK.

The increased use of low-cost budget airlines and on-line bookings, which has seen a 3% rise this year, has lead to the independent travel market growing by over five times as much, rising 9.7% year-on-year and accounting for over 305,000 holiday makers. The independent travel market now makes up 17% of the overall market.
