Experiential tours drive sales growth at Leger Holidays

Sporting events are proving particularly popular for 2013. The tours which have seen the biggest spike in interest include weekends to the top European Formula 1 Grand Prix and the Tour de France break.

European escorted tour operator Leger Holidays has seen sales of its “See it Live” experience tours increase by 39 per cent for 2013. The See it Live tours give holidaymakers the chance to experience a live event whilst also enjoying some of the local area, all with the convenience of organised transport and accommodation.

Sporting events are proving particularly popular for 2013. The tours which have seen the biggest spike in interest include weekends to the top European Formula 1 Grand Prix, which have increased by 44 per cent and, the Tour de France break which has seen sales soar by 74 per cent perhaps boosted by Bradley Wiggin’s win last year. The Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe tour, which combines a visit to Paris with a break to the Longchamp Racecourse for the most glamorous horse racing event of the year, has seen 2013 sales grow by 43 per cent.

Huw Williams, Marketing Director at Leger Holidays, said: “The See it Live tours appeal to such a wide range of people – they cover everything from motor racing and St Patrick’s Day in Dublin, to jazz weekends and the Chelsea Flower Show. Because they include transport, accommodation and entry to the event in question it makes it easy and straightforward for people. We often manage to include an extra excursion within the tour, so perhaps heading to a nearby town, city or tourist attraction, meaning travellers make the most of their precious holiday time.”
